Fall Decorating Ideas for Your Kitchen
Want to bring cozy fall vibes into your kitchen? These simple fall decorating ideas will help you create a space that feels warm, inviting, and ready for the season.

Fall in Love with Your Kitchen
While fall officially arrives in September, here in the desert it often feels like summer stretches on forever — with temps staying up around 108 to 110 degrees well into October. At times like these, I miss the Midwest, where the crisp autumn air rolls in early, the trees show off with reds and golds, and the leaves crunch underfoot.
But this year has been a gift. We were blessed with a cooler summer, and it feels like fall is showing up a little earlier than usual. And even if it wasn’t, I’d still be decorating — because cozying up the kitchen for autumn is one of my favorite things to do.
No matter where you live, you can bring those warm, seasonal touches into your kitchen with just a few simple updates. Your home should reflect who you are — and the kitchen is a great place to start.
Arrange a Fall Centerpiece
Start with a fall-inspired centerpiece to bring the season into focus. A bouquet of silk flowers in warm oranges and yellows with a few dried berries always works beautifully. A pot of mums is another great option.
Try placing your arrangement on a woven placemat or rustic wooden tray to give it that farmhouse feel. I also like to add something personal — like a vintage mason jar filled with candy corn. It’s fun, colorful, and nostalgic (and you can sneak a few pieces while cooking).
Add Fall Linens
Textiles are one of the easiest ways to make your kitchen feel cozier for fall. Swap out your table runner, dish towels, or sink skirt for ones in deep fall colors — think rust, mustard, cranberry, or olive green.

I swapped out my sink skirt with one in cozy fall colors — it instantly warmed up the whole space! If you have seasonal aprons or linens, hang them up or drape them where they’ll be seen. They’re both practical and decorative.
Accent with Pumpkins and Gourds
Mini pumpkins and gourds add instant charm — whether they’re real or faux. You can fill a bowl, line a windowsill, or cluster a few on a tray for a natural fall look.
I’ve also added some personal touches this year, like my grandma’s pumpkin salt and pepper shakers and a vintage bottle tied with twine — just a simple detail that brings in that rustic, homespun feel.
You can also fill jars or bowls with pinecones or dried elements for texture. (Last year, I filled a mason jar with dried orange slices, cinnamon sticks, and pinecones — that’s a favorite I may bring back again!)
Create a Cozy Aroma
Fall isn’t just about how your space looks — it’s also about how it smells. Try candles that smell like apple pie, cinnamon, or pumpkin spice. Or make your own stovetop potpourri: just simmer apple and orange slices with cinnamon sticks and cloves. It’s easy and makes the whole house feel cozy.
If you’d rather go scent-free, fresh greenery like eucalyptus or rosemary still adds a seasonal touch without the fragrance.
Bake Something Delicious
There’s nothing more comforting than the smell of something baking. A plate of cookies or a fresh bundt cake on the counter adds both warmth and charm to your space.
Try fall favorites like pumpkin bread, apple pie, or oatmeal cookies. Even something simple gives your kitchen that cozy, homey feel — and encourages everyone to gather around.
Try my flourless peanut butter cookies for an easy, fall-inspired treat that comes together fast and tastes like home — with just 3 ingredients (and chocolate if you’re feeling fancy).
